Approximately 1 in 3 adults in the world isn't getting enough sleep according to American Academy of sleep medicine(AASM). Many effect of lack of sleep, such as weaken the immune system and weight gain are very well known. However, there are some more serious side effects that may not be well known. Everything from people's memory to their looks, their weight and their overall health can be impacted by lack of sleep.
Here are the 7 effects of sleeping less.
1.Sleeping Less Can Cause Death.
British research studies have shown that people who have irregular sleep pattern or schedules that do not allow adequate rest on a regular basis have a higher mortality rate than those who have enough sleep on a regular basis. Most notably, patients who suffer from lack of sleep appears to have a significantly higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
2. Sleeping Less Weakened The Brain.
During sleep, your brain forms connections that help you process and remember new information. A lack of sleep can negatively impact both short and long memory. And also, lack of sleep can make you moody, emotional and quick tempered. Chronic sleep deprivation can affect your mood and lead to anxiety or depression, which may escalate. Your concentration, creativity and problems solving skills aren't up to par when you don't get enough rest.
3. Sleeping Less Increases The Risk Of Diabetes.
A lack of sleep affects your body's release of insulin, a blood suger-lowering hormone. People who don't get enough sleep have higher sugar levels and an increased risk for type 2 diabetes.
4. Sleeping Less Weakened Immunity.
Too little sleep weakens your immune system's defenses against viruses like those that cause the common cold and flu. You're more likely to get sick when you're exposed to these germs.
5. Sleeping Less Increases the Risk Of heart Disease.
Lack of sleep may increased blood pressure and higher levels of chemicals linked to inflammation, both of which play roles in heart disease. And also, if you sleep less than five hours a night, your risk for high blood pressure increases.
6. Sleeping Less Reduces Sex Drive.
People who don't get enough sleep have a lower libido. Young men who lost sleep over
one week period showed a decrease in testosterone levels. Sleeping 5 or
fewer hours reduce sex hormone levels by 10 to 15 percent.

Get more sleep, find out if you may be at risk for sleeping disorder. Get your body working for you instead of against you.
